Game of Thrones Season 1 Episode 10

Fire & Blood

Well this is the end of the first season of Game of Thrones and I finished it just in time for the new season to start to tomorrow. So far this show has shown some very well done episode, possibly the best so far is Baelor, and this episode is no exception. Initially when I first heard of this show I was interested in it because of Sean Bean and then I read the books but still the fact that the killed off the shows main character was a bold move, even though I knew it was going to happen, it was the only way for the show to progress. The title of this episode, Fire & Blood, is in reference to the house Targaryen and the end shot was what made the episode worth it, Dany sitting in a pile of ash, from the fire which she laid the Khal to rest, with three new born dragons, which is a good thing because I was wondering from the start if they would include the dragons this season. What worked is the setting up of the next season, which is what most of the episode consisted of and it was done nicely and should entice people into continuing the series into the next season. It was also a good sight to see that Jon Snow knew is right place in the Night’s Watch after he returns to the Wall after trying to flee, it shows that he is finally realizing that the brothers of the Night Watch are now his family and that he left the Starks behind so that he can live rightfully on the Wall. There was a lot going on in this episode but it was also one of the strongest and I can’t wait for the new season tomorrow.

9 out of 10

I am a huge fan of the original Total Recall, quite possibly one of my favorite action movies to date. I was not all that happy when I heard the news that they were going to remake it but I got over it, it is what Hollywood does. After seeing this make want to see this movie a little more, though it only teases the actual trailer which comes on sunday. The only thing is that I hope that they go with the more philosophical route and make it a movie like Inception but at this moment that is only a hope. I will update this when the actual trailer comes out on Sunday.

Though it would be nice to see Jennifer Lawrence get nominated again but I don’t think the odds are in her favor (pun intended). I think that see is an amazing actress I just don’t think this movie or performance will be what gain her more Academy Award recognition. I really thought that her performance was amazing it is just way early to tell at this moment.

I’m glad that the Hunger Games is doing so well because it is a great movie that reaches a much bigger audience than any of the Twilight movies. Initially wasn’t meant to open this big but so far this year movies have been exceeding expectations. In the long run I think that this series has great potential and that, based on these numbers is going to make Lionsgate a power packing studio that can stand up against the likes of the biggest movie studios.
